A few divers from the small island, Terran outpost were watching the crew members from Castel's crew in the water. Snickering to themselves and pointing at them, making snide remarks and generally making fun of them. While only Telminee and Castel were decent swimmers in their own right, the other furs in the pool were floundering about, trying to stay afloat, even with the rebreather in their mouths.

"Gah, look at them, they are supposed to be mercs to help us out, my little brother could swim better than that one, and he's only a few months old," one seal said.

"I hear ya, though those two seem decent, maybe we should get some exercise ourselves, teach them a few lessons on fighting, even if they can do that," his otter buddy replied.

A fox looked on as well. "Hmm, the lass there is cute, wouldn't mind having her beat me."

"I woudn't either, but you would say that even if she was the grey and black of a Waterling," the otter came back.

"Only if I could take her out on a date first," the fox said back in kind.

They laughed at this and looked down back into the water.

****************************

"I see no real alternative," the seal leader of the mercenary group said. "The pup, which is still out will provide more information than this pile of fur. So, you want to dump his body out the side, into the current then after you kill him?"

*************************

THe recrutis of the Waterlings were all talking excitedly after their first day of training for thei diver corp of the underwater furs. Talking how they defeated their opponent or being stunned themselves. THe noise was beginning to become to much to bear until a colonel came upon a stage. "ATTENTION ON DECK!" was the cry across the room.

All furs and skins stopped what they were doing immediately and stood at attention on their tables.

"I'm glad that you all are still alive and in one piece after your first day here," the dolphin officer began. "The days ahead will be even more tiring and stressful for you. Usually the first day is easy, get to know who you are working with and who your officers are, now, we'll be putting the hammer down, so to speak. You will be training harder, using the tools of the trade. Knives, spear guns, and yes, even tooth and claw, anything to defeat your opponent. Tomorrow, your officers have been instructed to push you to your limits, starting out with a battle royal of sorts within your own training groups. I want you all to tear each other limb from limb, well not literally, but leave each other exhausted, even if tearing off your opponents suit and flippers is what you have to do, in fact, I encourage it. THose that know how to survive and defend oneself will survive out there, I stress defense more than anything here. Any fool can get lucky with a spear gun, shooting someone in the front, back, or to the side, but it takes skill to defend against knife attacks and paw to paw attacks."

A brief pause was felt throughout the room as the colonel nodded to a major which inserted a holo disk in a machine. "Continue to eat but I want you all to see what you'll be going against. This is a vid taken during one of our battles with the Terras. You'll be seeing death and victory, sadness and the glory that comes with battle, but remember, teamwork and surviving are the only glory that I want from you, without either, you'll be just like them, with your flippers pointed towards the surface and as fish bait. You may continue eating while watching the vid."

With that being said, the dolphin walked out the room with his support staff. The video began, many divers forgot about their food as the first images of the waterlings swimming towards the Terras. That was when the fighting started.

****************************

A knock at the door was heard and the dolphin in the otter's office answered. "Ah, glad that you are back on your feet again. The lieutenant was wanting to speak to you," he said, smiling as he let the jaguar in the room.

With three chairs pointing away from her, Telya? entered the officer. Kyle, the otter officer was talking to someone in the chair adjacent to him, pointing to something on the screen. His rose above the chair and smiled. "You're out already, always a good sign. Come pull up that fourth chair and sit by us, oh, you probably know by now you're not squad leader anymore with that patch off your suit, but I guess you already surmised that. Not that you didn't fight with passion and followed orders, but one other fur did so, just faster than you. Stan here got it."

He examined her nose and shoulder. "Not bad considering you fought through a dislocated shoulder and nose. Many others would just pass out from the pain right there on the spot, somehow you blocked it out and defeated him. Not bad, not bad at all, though I did deduct points from you on your landing," Kyle said, sticking out his tongue at the small attempt of a joke.

The young otter, that seemed to be smitten with the jaguar smiled from ear to ear as he waved over his friend. "Yeah, we'll talk later about how I got it, but you should've seen the tigeress' face...."

Kyle looked down at the otter, but only shook his head. "Yes, I bet he has a story to tell you that's for sure, but come over here, I want to share with you two a scenerio that I've been wanting to try and I have permission from the higher ups."

As the jaguar sat down and looked at the screen, she saw either an unconscious or dead otter teen floating underwater with another diver, clad in blue briefs pulling on his suit. At the same time, a completely nude diver was pulling on his briefs.

"Yes, another sick and twisted thing from my mind," Kyle said, smiling wickedly. "But seriously, that lad with the blue briefs on is actually not alive, well, actually, an AI projection. He acts like a real fur, feels like a real fur, and even fights like a real fur, but he's nothing more than a computer generated image, even if you can say that. This vid was taken two months ago when this was still top secret, but only just recently was released to us military folk. They took the best divers from our side and stuck them together to fight an enemy. They did well, after we tweaked the system to get it down to a managable level in which they could defeat them. The first few fights, there was around forty nude, Terran divers floating around, without a single AI body among them. I want to employ the same tactic, get us to work as a team and see how my two squad leaders will lead our divers into battle. This individualism is stopping today, I just wanted to see how you all handled a knife and spear gun, now that I do, I'm going to throw this at you."

The otter lieutenant took a drink of water and continued. "You'll be dressing up in a swimsuit and over that your Lycra dive suit. Males with briefs and females the normal swimsuits. The AI will be wearing the same thing but only in bright blue. Knives will only be used and with a one minute stun timer, you'll see as the video plays out. The object for this exercise is to keep your opponent nude for a minute then a robot will stun them for an hour. You can give your teammates equipment to stay in the game, but that is only if you work as a team. I'm expecting the first few times, the lot of you, twenty five will be all nude, but when you finally get it through your heads to work as a team, I'll put more tactics in. Sounds fun doesnt it. I'll let the vid continue while my assistant and myself tweak the AI more, when its done, come to the pool both of you to test out the system. We'll have you go against one diver, then two on two, then four on two, then to make sure you'll fall asleep tonight ten on two. Don't bother with the swimsuit right now, just your Lycra suits will be fine. Also, instead of hour stuns these robots will be shooting nets at either one of you if you are eliminated. We don't have much time for hour stuns. Come on Cory, let's leave these two alone, I'm sure you two have a lot to talk about."

The otter let the video continue as the AI diver with the blue briefs lost them and started attacking the nude Terra diver, while leaving the unconscious otter youth alone. "So yeah, Tera is really on a rampage," Stan said.

He watched the video and its antics as he continued. "I guess the leaders like what I did to the messenger diver. As soon as he and I hit the water, I took out my spear gun and shot a snap shot at him to keep him honest. I guess my aim was better than I thought, the stun bolt hit him in the stomach and he doubled over. He crossed his legs at his ankles and held his stomach with both arms. He convulsed a couple of times and went limp. I put away my gun and took out my knife. After he regained his senses, he and I wrestled around for a few minutes. I feinted left once, twice and when he overcompensated the second time, I went right. I held on to his wrist pulling him for a complete loop and with one paw on his briefs and a knife in my other, I sliced him up his back and down his front while stripping of his dignity. Kyle said that was like poetry in motion, whatever that means, never was good with poetry. When the entire group had finished, he went over and made a big show of giving me the squad leader badge you see right here on my shoulder."

His eyes were torn back to the screen as the scene played out where two male AI divers lost their briefs from one diver as they were both stunned by a female lioness in front. That was the end of the vid as the Terra divers had won that round. "Well, I'll tell you what happened while we walk towards the pool."

"Sounds like a plan." Dee grinned, this was the part he liked. Killing uncooperative prisoners. "Should I just shoot him and toss his corpse to the water?" Dee asked, already aiming his spear gun at the pirate's heart.

Castel nearly held back Miles who was ready to jump out of the pool and beat the crap out of the divers. "Don't bother Miles....Yoru from the desert, mayeb you could stay on land or somthing."

Miles just growled and backed off.

Telminee just gave a few chuckles of herself watchign the jackal calm down.

"He's better on land..alot better." She then said.

"That he is...But still....he should get the basics just in case."

Miles said nothing and treaded without much difficulty.

"Yes, a plan, just don't make it too messy, I have to clean up the mess," the seal merc leader said to Dee.

"Well looks you two decided my fate," the pirate said, with a slight quiver in his voice. "But do me a favor and do me in the water, at least I deserve that dignity. You've already got rid of one dignity."

The seal turned his back to the pirate and closed his eyes. He looked at the still unconscious otter youth and then back to the pirate. He shook his head and looked towards the feline. "Yeah, don't want the mess here anyway, not for young eyes. Dee, use that equipment you still have on and kill him in the water, the current will do the rest. Let him pull up his suit at least."

*************************

"No, no, no, dont' get us wrong," the fox started. "We respect all fighters, just um, we expected, um, divers, not land fighters."

The dolphin continued. "We do have that one rifle on top though, the X5-72 sniper rifle, only rifle that I know of that can see through the water."

"Yeah, I used that a couple of times," the seal added. "Nothing better seeing the waterling diver's face behind his mask as he or she gets a bullet in the chest or stomach. Especially if you so far away from the actual battle. Bad side is that you can only see 10m in the water from the ground, but it's worth it."

"Indeed, but since we are running out of fur power to man it now. It hasn't been used in well over a week now, but still we keep it in pristine condition just in case. I'm sure one of you mercs would love a shot at it," the fox finished. "Say, would you mind if you had some competition. Us three versus you all, you can even have a stun knife and maybe even be good enough to stun us and strip our suits off, revenge if it will. What do you say?"

"My eye sight is great...I could possibly use that rifle." Miles finnaly said other than his growling. "I'm not much of a paw to paw fighter under water."

Castel nodded. "He often carriesa sniper rifle with him...but it's on the ship..."

Telminee thought about the proposal for a bit. "Well..I say we can have a kick at it...we'll get pounded..."

Castel shook his head, "Your negative...We coudl still win...Miles would be the only easer one....But...I must warn you....He can get agressive when grabbled or within paw range of another fur..."

Miles just smirked.

"He's more of a desert fighter too." Telminee added. "Oh yeah..I wonder how Lave is doing."

"Then we'll be really gentle like," the otter said, smiling.

The trio gathered their equipment and slipped into the pool with hardly a ripple. They swam a couple of lengths both above and under the water. When they had finished, they retrieved seven stun knives, three for them and four for the merc squad. "You see," the seal diver began. "A minute stun for each knife. What you do to the diver afterwards is up to you, but the object is to get the other without apparel unless you all have something different in mind."

"Lave?" the nurse asked the fox. "We're ready. We have the patient under and opened his chest up. The spear is embedded pretty good and we've found out it's four pronged. One of those is directly underneath the heart itself so lucky for him he didn't pull on it too much. We're just ready for you and your steady paws of yours."

The three in the pool got thier knieve, unfortunatly Miles sighed at not given a rifle, but he shruged it off and and took the knief. Castel gavea sigh to calm himself down.

"Ok...this is somthing we don't do as much..."

"Your telling me." Teminee chuckled. Miles said nothing, of crose, being the quiet fur he was when not getting his way.

Lave nodded and got the things on he needed for the operation, his paw were perfectly steady, despite his limping from his injuries. Aftera while he went to work, carfully moving the prongs that weren't near his heart. He didn't want this fur to die. He tried his best to get them off without moving it and piercing the heart. He was sweating, luckly his head band soaked it up. "Ok....Now...here's the real problem....getting the prong by his heart out..."

Hrunting (Stan) rushed jubilantly toward the pool with spear gun in hand and jumped in with a splash. Beneath the surface, he swam toward his messenger diver in long strokes, cutting through the water as if it wasn’t any hindrance. When he drew near he surfaced, splashed the other diver, creating a bit of a distraction to find an opportune moment to be the first to attack. With the diver momentarily blinded by the splash, he brought up his spear gun and fired quickly: an invisible, electric bolt found its mark at the pit of the beaver’s stomach.

In response, the diver thrashed like all the others who were stunned, with his knees splayed as soon as he floated onto his back, slowly turning over and drifting like wood. Hrunting lowered his spear gun and unsheathed his combat knife, turning it methodically in his hand.

He waited for the beaver to regain consciousness; and when he finally recovered, he lurched forth with a mighty grip, trying to hold and restrain the otter by his arms. A tussle ensued. Neither seemed to be capable of overturning the other. Suddenly, the otter managed to break free from the hold with a well-placed foot to the other’s groin, and then pushed himself away.

They came at each other again, and this time they collided head on, interlocking hands and fingers in a show of who was the strongest.

When they separated again, after no apparent victor, the beaver took a swing. The fist came and missed its target by an inch. Reflexively, Hrunting swerved either to his left or right as subsequent fists made their way toward his face. The messenger diver missed enough times for him to formulate a strategy that was two to three moves ahead of him. It was only a matter of time before he decided to put his plan into action.

That time came at last.

In one last, aimless swing, the beaver had placed all of his force behind it, overcompensating how far it would travel. His arm traveled past the otter’s left shoulder. In a fluid motion the knife in Hrunting’s hand came to life. Gripping the offending wrist that traveled past him with his other hand, he pulled the attacker forward, twisted his wrist in a painful way so that he would have to spin around, and directed the blade up from the water and toward the diver’s center.

After forcing the beaver round, the otter released the diver’s wrist and latched onto the back brim of the his briefs and, with the spin of his opponent’s body, the amount of force he put into his hold, in unison the briefs ripped silently and the blade in his hand came in a quick upward slash—slicing up the small of the beaver’s back. Another slash welcomed the beaver’s front as he spun around again after the first electrifying shock. Seconds in passing, he simply toppled back onto the water’s surface with his torn briefs in the otter’s hand.

The bout was over at the blow of a whistle that of which belonged to Officer Carl, who had witnessed the whole scenario. The dolphin quickly made his way over to the victorious otter, lowering his arm to pull him from the pool.

“Outstanding work, Hrunting! Your movements were like poetry,” he commended, patting the otter’s damp shoulder. “I believe you’re deserving of a promotion, don’t you think? I’m willing to bet the lieutenant would highly recommend it, for your stunning performance today. In fact, I believe you were the fastest to subdue your messenger diver. That’s really something. Come, let’s have a word with Lieutenant Kyle,” he said, pulling the young diver forward and walking alongside him.

Full of glee, Hrunting strolled toward the front of the room. His victory did not go unnoticed in the eyes of Tera Furlong, who remained in the pool, holding her designated messenger diver in a half-nelson. The otter stole her chance to show off her greatness to the officer in charge, and this incensed her more than anything else. All of the fur around her face and neck area bristled; a large, ridiculously evil curve of her lips, and a distention of her whiskers, took shape at her mouth; a rather large, deep-rooted snarl followed. And just about everyone in close proximity heard it, but only a few stray eyes dared to see what it was all about.

The otter youth heard this and turned his head toward the pool in a state of fright. A glimpse of the tigress’s temper reaching its utmost condition made him gulp hard. He continued to walk by, trying to keep his cool and appear casual as if the snarl was not meant for him, but his body burned in absolute terror.

Eric stopped eating a he watched the vid, his fork falling clattering to the floor as the divers clashed. Not that anyone noticed as everyfur in the room was morbidly enthralled by the images being played.

Despite the wafullnes being displayed Eric just couldn't look away, he felt drawn to what he saw, like a strange primitive lust for battle.

As the three Terra divers began tussling with the mercenaries, a surprise grabbed Telminee from behind. It was more than a gentle bear hug than an attempt to stun her. As she recovered by her surprise and easily breaking free of the entrappment, she realized who her attacker was. It was the young male ferret that she left in the tanks. While a white turnicate of sorts was still wrapped around his leg, he was in the middle of the battle. Clad in blue and black briefs and dressed for the water with rebreather, mask, and fins, he was willing to try the female on for size. "Thought you could get away of not paying attention eh?" he said, grinning widely.

Hearing him talk underwater was the second surprise of the day. "Ah, not used to our technology I see," reassuring Telminee. "Well, we communicate through our rebreathers, because hand-signals are out of the question when you are fighting for your life out in the water. Though the bad side is you hear the screams and grunts of divers around you being killed."

While not armed with a knife himself he motioned her forward. "Come on Telly," egging her on. "Just think, me in my briefs, not much to take off "if" you stun me."

"A suggestion if I may," a bobcat diver said. "While we hold his heart out of the way, you can turn the spear so that if you pull it out now, nothing else more can be damaged."

**************************

The scenes captivated the audience in the mess hall. While some regurgitated their supper and ran out of the room, others could not tear their eyes from the gruesome scenes that played out in front of them. Spears and lasers alike were flung across the vastness of the water at will as divers from both sides screamed, twisted and turned, and died as they were hit. Those that survived the first few salvos of the spear guns, were met by knive and claw. The ripping of masks, suits and flesh greeted the visage of the two sides at war. Blood flowed freely from the gaping wounds of the mortally wounded and injured, making the water turn a purple color. This did not deter the more determined as they rallied others to their side's cause, only to be met again by lasers by gun emplacements.

A otter grasped at his stomach, a spear still stuck in it. His looks of anguish and pain, etched on his face as the world around him turned red with his and other's blood. He sank, twitching at the agony that the metal rod caused him. He fell on top of the sandy bottom, kicking up the slit with his fins, hiding him for a time from the camera. When the sand and dirt settled, it showed him, his rebreather hanging from his open mouth. The tight suit he wore was now shredded and showed his nakedness. Sharp instruments of a anti-personel mine retreated back into its hiding place.

*********************

"So yeah, you see now why most if not all of the other divers now fear Tera," admitted Hrunting. "She's becoming a loose cannon and not one of us, well except for a couple of otter twins, would ever stand up against her. They know they can put her down a peg or two, the other's aren't really brave enough just yet to stand up against that tigeress. Maybe if we all band together, but who knows."

The otter and jaguar walked the hallways of the facility and came upon several of their own training mates wondering if Telya was alright and how she was feeling. "Quite the popular gal aren't you," the otter teased, poking her stomach with a clawed index finger.

Finally they came to the pool room that the Carl and Kyle had procured for the AI test and battle. "Ah, good, you found us," Carl said, waving them over to the console. "We're not supposed to have you in here Teyla," admitted the dolphin. "But we are going to use the excuse of making sure no ill effects are hurting you from your previous injuries. This was Stan's reward for today, but I'm sure he doesn't mind one bit."

The otter youth just smiled and shook his head. "As you can see here, the outline and filled out impression of the AI diver you two will face is on the screen," continueing on without missing a beat. "Here, you will see that his equipment consists of swimming briefs, lycra suit, mask, fins, rebreather, and stun knife, listed here on the side."

After pushing a series of commands on the keyboard another screen full of objectives took the diver's picture's place. "Here you will find the objectives that you two will have to be faced with," Carl pointed out. "Stun and strip the diver in common tongue, computerese is so hard to translate. Like we said before, you two will face one diver, then on equal terms with two on two, two to one odds as four divers come at the two of you and then, to make sure you'll both be floating with your feet up at the surface, ten versus two."

Kyle came from the pool and shook off the excess water from his suit. "Nothing like a few underwater laps to refresh you," he said, smiling at his young prodigies. "I see that Kyle has been filling you two in on what you are about to do. Now, by the look of your face, you have a question Telya. If you are wondering about the other divers from your group, they are now eating their lunch and have until this evening to prepare for their chance at this machine. Then we'll see how many Terrans we can leave nude in the pool."

He places one robot drone in the water and makes sure the stun nets are firmly in place. "These nets only make sure you don't break out of them," the lieutenent said, making sure they were paying attention to him one hundred percent. "We are only using these nets for the two of you because the stun power on these things can and will last for one hour. We don't have that amount of time if we, us four, see how the other members of our training squad will look nude later in the evening, now do we? This will also give me a good clue how far I can push you, Telya, with your arm, but by the way you are swinging it around, it looks brand new. So grab your equipment and come to the pool."

After the otter and jaguar put on their equipment, wrinkling their noses to the strong smell of chlorine, they toed the edge of the pool. "So any questions before you two start with your two on one encounter?" asked Kyle.

Telmine was indeed shocked. She wasn't used to underwater technology, only above ground technology.

"Are you saying that I can't stun you?" She then spoke up, feeling offended a bit. She didn't realize that her two other teammates weren't paying attetnion to her, Castel only shot a few glances.

Telimine smirked. "I bet I can stun you...I know I can do it..." She slightly shuckled. "But now that I see your out and about from that injury I guess I cant't take it easy on you." She pulled the rubber knief out and twirled it underwater once before securing it in her paw. "Alright...I...guess we can start this.

Lave nodded. "Let's do just that...We need to do it quick though." He got ready as he calmed himself as if in some trance, he wasn't shaking or anything, just calm as he could ever be.

Neyla felt challenged. The more she endeavored to land an attack on her opponent, the more her confidence in succeeding diminished, and the feeling of loss--the removal of her squad leader badge--was beginning to have an effect in her performance as well. Hrunting provided whatever assistance he could, scarcely playing the role of the leader despite his new rank. The computerized combatant proved to be a bit more skilled, more fluent, and adept in new instances than real divers, but it had to have a flaw in its design, somewhere.

The female jaguar moved in for the hit.

“Watch your six,” Hrunting shouted, trying to warn the jaguar about her tendency to leave herself open to a counterattack whenever she fought above water. He lowered his head into the water and swam toward the girl and the artificial intelligence diver.

The curve of her blade missed an inch from the computerized otter’s body. Frustrated, she had resorted to brandishing her combat knife, and this made her partner worry. In retaliation, the computer kicked his legs in a singular, powerful thrust, propelling itself past her, round to her backside in a flash, and motioned its armed hand toward the small of her back. It pressed its stun knife against her and rendered her into a frenzy of pain and thrashing; she went limp afterward, floating to the surface. It was already too late for her partner when he came to aid her.

He watched as the jaguar’s body twirled in slow motion beneath the water’s surface. During a turn of her right arm, her stun gun slipped from its strap and fell to the bottom of the pool with a soft clank. In her hand she had already lost the grip of her knife, and it too followed a similar fate. Infuriated, blowing bubbles in front of his mask, he shot forth in a speedy burst, coming up behind the computer figure and getting it into a headlock. A tinge of confidence made him a bit happier--it was his vengeance for the fallen jaguar.

Quite to his surprise, the computer responsively drew back its arm, repeatedly, elbowing his chest. Because it never needed to breathe, it had all the energy it needed to keep fighting. Hrunting grimace with every blow he received, but he refused to release the artificial otter. Its attacks ceased. He believed it was giving up, until it brought up its arms and gripped around his neck, pulling him over its head with an uncanny amount of strength.

It flung him. His body flipped forward, putting his back to it. And once it positioned his small body in place, it forced him into a tight headlock, tightening its hold to the point where his breathing threshold was severely limited. The otter youth panicked and spat invaluable breaths, almost taking in the water into his lungs when he forgot about his rebreather. He brought up his hands and tried to pry the hands that choked him. The strenuous hold kept him steady and in a helpless state; and not even his constant flailing could help loosen the tight grip around his neck and free him. Moreover, he had totally forgotten about his sheathed stun knife resting in its scabbard.

A couple of minutes lapsed--and he still could not budge free with his squirming. His vision had already begun to become distorted; his breaths slower; his body weary. Time was dwindling for him. An unexpected force from behind brought him to attention. It seemed someone had tugged and taken the computer by complete surprise and, when he stole a glimpse of someone swimming behind them--a pair of moving feet--a bit of reprieve flowed throughout him.

The computer released him suddenly and looked down, its body following the fluid motion of its briefs being robbed quickly from it. Hrunting held his throat and whirled around as fast he could, trying to assess the new situation. The predicament changed with the sight of Neyla’s return, having successfully completed one of their objectives. She clutched the blue briefs in one hand and in the other her stun knife.

She waited for the right opportunity to give the computer another surprise, something that was not in the rule books. When it motioned around, she covered its head with its briefs, blinding it. Seeing this, her partner made a grin and came up behind the computer as she had done and slid his arms under and around the computer’s--holding it in its place. Then, as a reassurance, he locked his legs around its thighs, immobilizing it. Together, they began to sank slowly with the jaguar lowering herself to follow. In a countdown to three, she suggested with her hand, she positioned her knife at the computer.

One. Two. Three.

She stunned the computer at its chest, relishing the taste of victory--their victory. When it stopped moving, Hrunting released it and pointed upward for them to surface. They broke to the surface in a brilliant splash, followed by the young otter’s whooping. He slapped the water in merriment, coming close to the feline and tightly embracing her. The only thing she could do was smile.

“We did it! We did it!” he said, cheering.

With a bit of indisposition, she returned a hug and shared his elation.

“How did you know to blind it? And with its own briefs? That was the work of a genius!” he prattled.

She raised her eyebrows at him, still in his embrace. “So you liked that, huh? Heh!”

“Heck yeah!”--he released her and grabbed her small shoulders, pulling her into a sensually pleasing kiss--“You’re just so smart. Don’t you know that?” He ignored what he had done a moment before, giving into the butterflies in his stomach. He did not care anymore.

A flush of hotness and red filled her cheeks, “I couldn’t have done it without your help. Thanks,” she released him and smiled a bit more.

Officer Carl produced a whistle. Seeing their closeness troubled him.

“Are you two done fraternizing? We're not quite done here.”

The ferret's smile only grew, if that was possible. "I have no doubts that you can use that knife against me and may even come close to me, but you are not going to stun me."

He actions were in merriment, as if he was just glad to be alive and actually having a second chance with this new fur in front of him. He swam as a fur who spent a lot of time in combat under the waves. His actions were smooth and graceful. His leg was lagging behind when he made a quick manuver and his expression on his face changed slightly. Telminee knew that he should've spent more time in the regenerative tank, but that didn't stop him from having fun.

"Well, come on Telly," he goaded her. "Let's see how you can use that knife, your comrades are getting a bit of a working over except for that wolf, they need your help."

The spear slipped from the body and immediately the medical staff was there fixing any bleeding that may have came up from the removal. They looked relieved if anything, but even so, they still had the chore of stiching the diver back up. "The night will prove if he makes it or not," they admitted. "We are severely understaffed with them closing their imaginary noose around this island. We are quite lucky to have you, Lave. Now, the other diver, the one with the severe blood loss, I have no idea how we are going to save him."

******************************

Kyle was studying the AI terminal and sighed. "Carl," he called to his second.

When the cetacean didn't answer him, he picked up a fin and slapped it across the dolphin's melon playfully. That startled him and brought him back from the duo still celebrating their victory. "Sorry sir, just uh, what is it?" he asked.

"Might as well have you two hear as well," the otter said. "The next time Carl here touches this AI terminal will be when he's withered up and old, he had you going against a god-mode AI setting."

A lopsided grin spread across the dolphin's beak. "Imagine that, thought they did well don't think, Kyle."

A loud slap was heard when the offending fin hit the Lycra covered chest of the officer. "Go change it back will you," the lieutenant said, as he turned back to the two furs in the water. "He had you going against an otter that was ten times more strong and agile in the water than a athletic fur would be, that won't happen again will it Carl?"

The dolphin only raised his left hand, waving off the comments. The otter only shook his head. "Now, you should have an easier time with these next two. The settings he had it was where the AI wouldn't need to breath as well so if you took out their rebreather, they would drown. This is going to be more lifelike. These two will be wearing a Lycra suit over their briefs so you have to take their suit off before their swimsuit. Now this time it will be even as in two versus two, but even then that shouldn't stop you from working as a team. A quick help here and there between divers can save both of their lives. Admittedly, I'm quite impressed that you two pulled off that win considering Carl here brought you against superotter there. By all rights the two of you should've been floating naked in nets there, but that is only testament to your willingness not to give up and your determination. Only wish the rest of you divers would be so willing to give up their individualism as such a diver that I'm thinking of. This excercise will see to that."

The otter turned around and walked back to the terminal. He nodded his head at the new settings and stole a side-glance at the officer standing next to him. "Alright you two, dive under the water and we'll start the next round, remember, stripped completely except the rebreather and you'll be going against two instead of the one. Good luck."

As the jaguar and otter slipped in the water, Carl spoke up. "Guess you saw huh?"

"Yeah, nothing wrong there," admitted the otter. "As long as they don't do it on my time, I'm fine with it, they can even go in their private pool in the divers' area and do whatever they want, but if they start doing that when I'm giving instructions that might save their lives, I will split them apart in a heartbeat."

(( Sorry for taking so long... Computer problems... ))

The wolf blinked, his mind filled with the gruesome imagery, forcing himself to look away. Instead he took to examining the faces of his fellow divers, most where disgusted and or looking extreamly sick.

Eric leaned down and retrived his fork which had fallen to the floor, he returned to his meal, much to the surpise of the few that wasn't starring at the vid. He didn't care, for some reason he was very hungry.

Looking around the table he located Pailor.
"Pst.. Pailor.." He called out to the otter silently.

Telminee smirked. "Don't worry." She gavea smile. She didn't want to re injur his leg, but it was a weak point. The first thing Castel told her was that allways to go for weak points. The weasel noted this and twirled the knief once and swam for him, she swam with some unique style and swam quietly, and with out much kicking of her feet. She hold the knief ready in her right paw, and tried to gain more speed. Her sleek body made it easy for this. As she approached, she noted the leg, trying to be careful not to get stunned herself. The weasle did a corkscrew manuver trying to go by his leg. If he was lagging the leg, it had to hurt, and if Telminee comes up from his bad leg He'd hurt hismelf and stall from pain,...Unless he had endurance that of a bull. As Telminee came up she aimed for his back, And tried a quick jab to his back.

Lave nodded. "I...Hope he makes it." he then looked at the one with the blood loss. "What is his blood type? A Blood transfusion may do the work. Though, we have to look for signs of rejection, which I hope will not happen." The Fox limped over to this fur and tried to gather as much information as he could by observation. He held himself up by grabbing onto a table, his feet were hurting again, and about to give out, luckly The medical footwear he had stopped him from collasping. He ignored his own pain and noded. "Yeah...I jsut need his blood type....and a donar with the same blood type." Lave said. "Then Maybe he'll just make it..."

As Eric finally recogninzed the young otter, he noticed that tears has started rolling down his cheeks and whiskers. His paws were at his thighs, and the flesh that was visible through the fur were white as he was squeezing down. A second time, the wolf called out Pailor's name and this time, the otter seemed to jump out of his trance. He stared if not at Eric, but through him. His gaze seemed vacant, but at the same time, a fire burned in his eyes like none had seen before.

"Huh, yeah," was the otter's only response as his head swiveled back to the carnage and death.

Visions of the battle still ran out of control as the number of divers from both sides went down. Fins, masks, rebreathers, knives, spears, and even parts or entire Lycra suits floated by as death reigned supreme. A fox screamed out his rebreather from the Terra side as a knife entered his stomach and was slashed upwards, no doubt he was be gone in a few seconds. A black grey suit was ripped unceremoniously from a seal female as she was fighting a feline diver with the tell tale signs of the black and blue of the Terra side. She fought on, stabbing her attacker with her own knife, only to turn around and be speared by an unknown assailant.

The otter was audibly sobbing. He seemed so much want to become part of the action, but knew that there was nothing that he could do about it.

**************************

What he lacked in mobility, he made up for quick reflexes and agility. He turned quickly, grimacing as the friction of the water tugged at his leg. He barely managed to block the stab from behind and in doing so, had both ferrets close to each other. He smiled at Telminee and did something that shocked her. He took out his rebreather with his free paw, and planted a kiss to her cheek. The male inserted his rebreather back in his mouth and kicked her away with his good leg.

He assumed a defensive stance, making sure no one came up from behind him and saw that his comrades were holding their own, if not beating the other members of Castel's group, though he noted that Castel was easily handling the fox from before quite easily, putting the knife ever so close to his Lycra covered chest.

"A rather rare blood type even with one of his species," commented the nearest male. "He's mixed blood even though you can't see it, seal and otter. We could synthesize his blood if we had the equipment, but with the battles outside, we've been unable to send one of our messengers out past the lines. They've been stunned and returned to us in nets. I know they've been reading our messages on them, but they've refused us the medical machinery to do something about it. His blood type is AOB, few have it, but it's more common in aquatics."

Telminee was just shocked, she let herself get kicked back and just blinked. She floated there for a whle before shaking the thought off. "Why you!" it was more of a playful way then an agressive tone. She sepd off to him, watching the knief and partially the ferret, She was worried more of the knief than physical attacks. She tried to go right at him direcetly, then a few fake jabs, then a real jab when it looked liek she was gettign away from him, She sped past his side, and quick drew the knief as she made a quick u turns, to the back of the ferret's neck.

Lave sighed. "I...Cannot help him then...this is the first time I seen this blood type." The fox gave another sigh. "I'm...sorry."

The wolf looked at Pailor silently, he was sloghtly shocked by the otters open display of emotions.
"Just wanted to ask you... Who's that?" He asked while pointing at the smaller otter that had attacked so ferociosly during their training.

"That's ok," the nurse said. "We're trying to make his passing as comfortable as we possibly can. Maybe we can "persuade" one of the waterlings to give a donation of their blood, but I thank you for helping out with the spear fur. I don't think he would've made it without you, not that he's not out of the water yet, but thank you."

Sherdan tried to spin around to avoid the attack of Telminee, but found the point of the stun knife in the back of his neck. He thrashed violently in the water as the blue arcs of the stun traveled up and down his body. He fell limp in the female's paws, waiting for what was about to happen next, losing his briefs and whatever she wanted off the fur.

She looked around before going about her duty and saw that Miles was doubled teamed by the seal and dolphin. Already they had stunned him and was taking off his Lycra suit. They had it down to his waist as the seal noticed that she had taken care of the unexpected help in the form of Sherdan. He was about to come over to fight her, when the dolphin grabbed onto his ankle and shook his head. He gave the fur a visible wink and pointed to Castel.

The wolf had finally brought down the stun knife onto the Lycra clad chest of the fox. Now, Castel was in the process of stripping off the suit when he noticed the threat of a new challenge.

*****************************

"Oh him," Pailor wiped away his tears and looked at the small otter. "He's family actually, a cousin of mine."

He scooted over and began speaking. "Why, he give you trouble?" he asked.

He laughed a bit, while still sobbing. "Yeah, he probably did if you pointed him out to me. He's changed ever since he came here with me. We're not supposed to have family in the same squad, but I guess cousins aren't family. You're probably wondering why I said he's changed, I'll tell you why."

He ate some of his food, trying his best not looking up at the screen where the battle was still being waged. "He's more of your, I hate killing but I love fighting type of fur. He's more of a military genius in our family while the rest of us are the grunts. We usually hold family underwater fights once a month, but since we both were going off to this here training, we held a week long, fight fest if you can call it that. He's the one that everyone wants on their side. He's a tactical genius, he usually stays in the back, directing traffic, but he's lousy fighting. Now, don't get me wrong, I said he loves to fight, he does, but he gets too engrossed on the battle and seeing where we should go, that he tends to have tunnel vision."

A few more bites and a gulp of water refueled Pailor for his next barrage of words. "Most of my family goes gunning for him, since he's usually on the side that wins," he continued. "He's a bit weird in the respect he loves to fight. All of us otters wear tight Lycra suits and swimwear, but he wears very tight suits, one time he caught me in a bet........er, another time perhaps, but as I was saying. We love the fight, my family. We tear each other's suits, fins, and masks off with reckless abandon. Sometimes we go a bit further than that and that is for another story as well, fun times. Oh, going back to him. He gets beaten up all the time if he's not careful. I guess this past week really got him down. My youngest brother, ten, beat him good last time, he's fourteen by the way. Really worked him over good. A few rubs to the thighs, a few stabs to the chest and he was putty. Stripped off his Lycra suit, fins and mask, and let him float. After he regained his senses, with nothing more than very tight briefs on, a few more strokes, a stun knife across the throat, again he was down. He was netted after this and was helpless. He really struggled in the net this time, like he was angry at himself."

The video finally ended and the furs started to file out of the cafeteria and back to their bunks. "Oh, I haven't finished," Pailor said as he stood up to put away his meal dishes. "The next few fights, he really kicked it up a notch. My brother was the first to go as Davd, that's his name, stunned him hard in the stomach and stripped off his suit, then his sister. Must admit he got in over his head when he tried my father out, but he gave him a good fight. He's here to prove himself I think, so encourage him if possible. He's still that genius of military tactics, my grandfather did that to him, but he's still developing as a fighter. If we can pull that side out of him, along with the already developed leader in him, he'll be dangerous to any Terra that crossed his path."

Lave sighed. He didn't want the other creature to die...He couldn't stand it. He just nodded when he was thanked. "It shouldn't be his time..." He simply said. He couldn't help though..he had no knowledge of anyone with that blood type, and he wasn't that blood type, so he couldn't donate it himself. He growleda bit. "A waterling would have it...the only problem is....how do we get it...and....then the time factor..." He was talking to himself quietly, but just sighed again and shook his head.

Telminee took off what she could on Sherdan. then noted that Miles wasn't one for under water fights, once the jackal would wake up, He'd be extremly mad...

"Oh no...he's not going to be as friednly once he gets up from that..." She sighed and continued her seige on Sherdan.

Castel knew this was going to be tricky...Two on one... He pulled his knief out and even stole the other knief from the fox. Dual weilding knieves...It should work. Castel had practice with Kendo sticks ....these would be like it in a way but short. He kicked the fox away from him and turned his attetnion to the two one coming creatures, he got ready for a hard fight.

Hrunting and McCain exchanged looks of content as they swam close—side by side—allowing their pursuers to give chase. They already had their own eccentric ideas unfolding in their minds and knowing that their computer-controlled assailants would be easier than the original otter swimmer, in their fluidity and synchronicity a sort of cockiness seemed to show, and they smiled more frequently at each other each time they eluded the AIs. In the eyes of Lieutenant Kyle and Officer Carl, it appeared like the two swim mates were behaving as if the training simulation was more of a big game than a life-threatening situation.

The jaguar changed course and began swimming off to a side of the pool, coming up near the stun nets. She paused in front of it, turned slowly around, and while keeping herself afloat with her legs she motioned her hands for her partner to guide one of their pursuers away from the other. Doing so, the otter turned around amid his quick arm strokes and started swimming on his back under water, taunting the AI that tailed him in a relentless manner. He had successfully lured one of the artificial otters toward him; its accomplice having stopped, turned, and swam in the direction of the feline.

She gestured for the AI to come forth with an attack. When it lurched forth, she performed a quick, underwater flip, evading the clutches of the second otter. And with a thrust of her padded feet, she pressed them on the back of the computer and kicked him into the depth of the net. It arched its back when the electrical currents of the net responded to the slightest sensation of something becoming entangled in its wiry web. A few short moments after, the otter’s body sank to the top of the pool’s surface, but even there she swam up to retrieve him—robbing him of his digital swimming apparel.

When everything was clear at her end, she turned to see how her partner fared against his opponent.

The young otter merely provoked the AI to absolute frustration, watching how it attempted to land its stun knife on his body with every swipe, but to no avail. He continued to swim backward, swimming farther away and whirling his body in soft, wavy patterns which imitated the flow of an ocean’s waves. It was a spectacle for the jaguar to marvel at… how flexible the boy was. She watched in expectation, with a smug on her face, waiting to see how he would take down the computerized otter.

"If he deserves that much... Pirate! Make yourself decent." Dee snarled, then spat upon the captain. "I'll kill you in the sea... as you ask. I'll leave your body there as well, food for the fishes."
Dee turned to his leader. "I'm assuming that's all he's deserving of? Or should I hand him a knife as well?" He asked mockingly, angry that he couldn't just shoot the pirate now.

"We could always ask them nicely to be caught in a net, the patrols out there now and test their blood," suggested a diver that was passing by. "Wouldnt' take that long to do the test, but what to do with trapped divers is another story, the one that 'might' fit the bill can be brought in, but the others, I wouldn't mind putting a dent in the Waterling diver population."

The nurses around him just shook their heads. "Revenge is common around this room, I guess you understand," one of them spoke up. "So, I think that could work. Dont' suppose we could have furs of ours 'volunteer' for the net trapping duty. I think they would, dont' you Lave?"

The seal balked at his headlong charge into the wolf as he noticed the two blades in his opponent's paws. "Not bad there wolf," the seal admitted. "Wish all my practice fights were like this. Well then, let's get this over with."

The seal in his fur tight blue and black Lycra suit, cautiously approached Castel looking for an opening that he needed to take care the wolf as fast as possible.

The dolphin had finished with Miles and looked towards the seal and noticed that he had finally recieved the challenge that he had begging for weeks. The skin looked towards the female ferret and shrugged. "That wasn't nice leaving poor Sherdan nude like that," the cetacean grinned and pushing the male ferret away to leave enough room for Telminee and himself to fight.

"Well, let's see if you can leave me like that or I'm going to do the same for you that you did to your own species," the skin readied himself for the new challenge. "I usually take it easier on those of the opposite sex in practice fights, but if you want the full attack from me, just let me know, I'll make it quick as possible."

**********************************

"No that won't be necessary Dee," the captain noticed the feline's blood boiling now of the chance for revenge was right in front of him. "Not that I wouldn't do it myself, I just dont' want to clean up the mess of the blood and grey matter that you'll leave and...."

The seal merc leader walked over to Dee and whispered into his ear. "And I want to treat the cabin fur to a more respectable scene of we are fair to others. The kindness card has been working well with us with him and dont' want to upset him anymore than we have to," he told his diver. "Don't worry, with everything falling into place, you can have your revenge soon enough, you might have to 'kill' Bain again in front of the otter to get the responses we want. Just put the laser in the head of the pirate when he gets near the water and let him fall in. The current will do the rest, swim out with the body to make sure though."

"...this is gonna hurt you a lot more than it's gonna hurt me." And with that, the trigger was pulled, and where the captains head once stood, was now nothing but a stump and a partial ammount of jaw.
"...Rest in peices..." Dee mumbles before swimming back to the cave, allowing the body to float up to sealevel.

Hrunting led the remaining AI around the pool in a weary state. It moved with a bit of difficulty in attempt to catch up with the young otter, its arms stroking slow and long and its legs barely kicking together in unison just enough to propel itself. It was a ridiculous sight according to Neyla, who waited some distance near the middle of the pool, having watched her friend tease their opponent, repeatedly. By the tenth lap around, it had been long enough for the two of them to exchange words with their looks--they read each other’s body language--hand signs--to effectively communicate and conceive a sort of trap for the computer, and that was exactly what they were going to execute during his next passing.

Tailed by the computerized otter, Hrunting commenced with their plan, and began to swim toward his sparring partner. He reached her in under a minute, floating in front of her and looking over his shoulder to calculate how long it would take the AI to catch up. He then turned his attention back onto the jaguar, counting down from five with his fingers. She gave a nod of reassurance, positioned herself into an attack position, and unsheathed her stun knife. She held the weapon at her side as she watched the countdown run down to three fingers. Hrunting had already begun to whirl around slowly and turn his back to her to obscure her.

The ambush worked like a charm.

When Hrunting motioned to the side to evade the AI, in that split-second decision, Neyla welcomed it with the tip of her blade, stabbing it straight into its chest. From behind, Hrunting came up to the floundering AI, wrapped his arm around its neck, and stabbed it in its back to further add to its humiliation. When the computer became unmoving, they released it, and began pulling off the articles on its body.

Amid stripping the easy AI, they smiled at each other again--theirs eyes sharing a mutual feeling of success... or something else.

Eric nodded at Pailor.
"That explains his rather erratic behavior during training..." He deposited his own tray. "I think he might have gotten a litte to personal after I stunned you."

The wolf stretched as he walked away from the cafeteria. All he could think of was sleep. The training had been both physically and mentaly tireing, so Eric was quite exhausted.

He flopped down on the bunk without bothering to take of his lycra suit, he lay there for a few moments starring straight up. Then he sighed and closed his eyes, falling asleep directly.

"Yes, couldn't have said it better. Whatever it takes to save him, but," the nurse said, while looking after the fur in bed. "Many have died in this war the same age if not younger than this one and many more will follow. There's the bad thing about battles and war, the innocent and the young die, leaving the old to mourn both, but listen to me, so you think it is possible to trap a few divers of their side to test them out. Sorta like a catch and release program?"

"Yes, I know, just give a minute before I feel those knife pricks in my body," the seal said. "Rarely have I dueled someone so adept at warfare before. Let's get it over with then."

The mammal swam to Castel's left and grabbed onto the left wrist, hoping to use the momentum to stab the wolf in the side, if not the other arm to render it useless. That only caused an entanglement of arms on both furs' parts and now they were tumbling out of control in the pool, once even, colldiing with the naked form of the fox, still unconscious from Castel's knife.

The dolphin smiled and quickly led the charge against Telminee. A feint to the right then left, left an opening that he used. He grabbed onto her Lycra suit at the neck and swung around behind her. While still armed, the cetacean knew that he had the upperhand so far, but he remembered what his old drill sergeant said. 'If the diver ain't flopping around in front of you, doing the stun dance, he or she is still dangerous.'

The Terra diver forced his might into this knife arm, positioning the weapon closer and closer to the ferret's breasts.

************************

"Nice work," the merc leader said, walking over to Dee. "Be awhile if at all to identify the pirate now. Here, take this."

The seal handed Dee an ornate knife with a red handle and a seemingly sharp blade. "Careful not to stab yourself with it, has a poison that will put to sleep a whale and not to mention fish bait to mark your suit red for a year. That's just in case this otter ain't cooperative," the leader said walking back to the now stirring captive. "I'll try the nice ways and if that doesn't work, I'll motion to you and say 'Bring the pirate scum.' That will be your cue to fish out that seal you stunned a bit ago. Naked or in briefs, I don't care. Tell Bain to play the part of a pirate, he'll know what to do, he's a good actor. Then when the time is right, you'll know what to do, take that knife and stab him good. He'll collapse and thrash on the ground, then go to sleep. Put the invisible weight belt on him and let him sink back in the water, but let me remind you, don't do it unless I tell you to ok?"

*************************

Carl was seething inside and the red blush marks under his eyes showed the intensity that he had. "Why those little punks. I'll show them how to kill," the cetacean said, reaching for his fins and mask.

"Easy there, friend," Kyle said, putting a paw on his officer's shoulders. "I was looking here again on the computer screen. What are you more mad at, the divers making a fool out of the AI or the AI that you set up more than just normal, against my wishes and made them look like bubble swimmers."

The air and anger quickly faded from the eyes of the dolphin and he just smirked. "Yeah, well, just the thing. They showboated," Carl pointed out.

"Can't argue that, but still, they treated these divers like they didn't exsist, well, they don't really exsist," Kyle agreed. "Time to see how well my future officers handle pressure and if you want you can join in Carl, since you have so energy."

"Well, I need some practice so why not," the dolphin smiled.

The two furs in the pool finally surfaced, still looking at the fading, nude divers. The hugged each other and whooped and hollared of their success. "Congratulations you two, you beat Carl's divers yet again," Kyle started. "But this time, instead of the four on two battle I promised you, time to see how well you do against superior odds against you in a twelve versus three match."

"What?" the dolphin exclaimed. "No way, I'm not going to......"

"You agreed Carl," Kyle said, rubbing the head of the dolphin.

"Yeah, I did, didn't I," sighed the relunctant diver. "I hope that they don't mind looking at my blueish grey behind."

The lieutenant just chuckled. "You hear that you two, you have a partner now with Carl. Treat him like everyone else, more than likely, watch the AI divers strip him. So get warmed up will you?"

The dolphin just sighed yet again and jumped into the water, swimming a few underwater laps. "Now, for you two," Kyle sat down at the pool's edge. "I see something that either of you may or may not deny, that's up to you, but I will say one thing, do that on my time, you'll be sorry. If you want to continue your little fun between you two, you have to be ready for the real war and either one of you might be without the other, and you know what that means. Just be ready for that, but on the bright side, enjoy yourselves as much as possible. After this battle, and after you find yourselves stuck in stun nets, I will be setting up for tonight's training. Put on a swimsuit, briefs for you, Hrunting and a one piece for you Neyla, and you'll have two hours to yourselves before the rest of the team joins us. So, I'll stop talking and get Carl stripped before you two, alright?"

Eric woke up in the middle of the night. He finally found out his roommate was the small otter, cousin to Pailor. He had somehow snuck in the room without waking the sleeping fur and he too had his Lycra suit still on. The youth was sawing logs, twitching in his sleep, and whimpering. A note was lying on the top of Eric's sheet.

:Sorry about earlier, I thought I could take you and I let my emotions let the get the better of me. You're on the same team as me and well, I need to treat you as such. "It is possible..." Lave said. "If they refuse after they are caught...we will force them to give blood for the cause." Lave smirked a bit. The fox was now looking at the fur, feelingsorry for him, He wanted to help him stay alive.

Castel Was trying to regain control as the two were tumbling, Castel managed to free one paw and grab a hold of the knief before it floated up. He tried to bring the knief around back and act as if he was cutting out the spine. His agressive nature was the leading cause for this. Though he did keep his eyes careful not to get stunned himself.

Telminee tried to kick away. The Knief was too close to a personal part. She brought the other knief up to meet the knief heading for her chest. WHen she figured she couldn't block it quick enough, Telminee elbowed the dlophin in the stomach, then again and again, Then brought her leg behind her and go for a very weak spot in all males. In War, cheapshots were as good as normal hits, Wars were for survival.

Dee smirked, "Another fight with him? Good... I have to admit stunning a teammate and tossing them into the water is fun." He said with wide smile, causing his leader to take a step away. "...what?"

"Nnng.." Came a muffled sound from behind Dee.

"...I think pirate scum #1 is awake. Good cop, you first." Dee grinned again, then went over to the side of the cave and leaned against the cavewall.

Eric grinned slightly as he read the note. He lay back and starred into the ceiling.
"Heh... Yeah.. In the morning.." He said half to himself as he drifted of to sleep again.

***
"What?" Eric sat up quickly and then blinked at the strong light shining at him.
"Who is it?" He asked.
"Come on bro, hurry up... We'll be late.."
"Jack?" Eric wondered.
"Who else.." The light was directed elsewhere, allowing Eric to see the tall wolf dressed in a black lycra standing there. His brother.
***

Eric turned over and rolled togheter, holding his tail, sighing slighty.

"Better yet," chipped in one of the divers nursing a speared leg. "Take vials with us and you can use that sniper rifle up stairs to stun them. We'll see if they're a match on the field, so to speak and if one matches we'll show'em to the lab. I'm sure one of us or your crew is a crack shot. Though we wont' be killing'em, but the sniper will see the shocked look behind the mask and rebreather."

The dolphin pushed the wolf down to the bottom of the pool. At the right time, he pushed off with both finned feet and slammed the merc diver into the bottom. He robbed the wolf of one of the knives and went back in a neutral stance, showing neither a defensive or offensive nature. "With one knife gone, maybe a fair fight can happen," he said as he saw the discarded knife floating away.

Telminee felt a resistance to her mule kick, but only a muffled grunt was heard from the seal and not a scream of agony and pain. She looked back and she found she had only hit the kneecap and not the soft, exposed groin region. Her opponent nodded at her resourcefulness, but he immediately wrapped both of his legs around the offending extremity. With her leg and mobility now cut off and his arms, one around her neck, he went to work putting the ferret to sleep. "This deary," he began. "Only stops you from being a nuisance and not choking you out. In a couple of minutes, you'll be stunned and floating. Dont fight it, it will only make it worse."

***********************

"Nah, I was only getting ready for the fight," the seal merc leader said, eyeing Dee over. "You still have a few things to learn, cub, before you beat me. So, I'm the good cop eh? Fine, but you know what happens when I give you the signal. Bring Bain over naked or in briefs, I don't care and tell him to play the pirate."

The young otter, barely a teenager woke up and eyed his surroundings. He smiled as he saw Dee in the background, but cowered when the merc leader stood over him, clad in the pure black Lycra suit. "Ok, we'll do this the easy or hard way," the seal began. "Just answer a few questions and we'll send you off to either the waterlings or Terrans. They'll know what to do with you because we certainly can't take care of you here. So let's begin. The captain of your sub that you were on, who'd he work for?"

The otter, shivered once in his tight briefs and only blinked, staring at the wall behind the seal. "Well, a hard question at first, sorry about that. What's your name?" he asked.

"Herni," was the only word coming out.

"So Herni, what mission were you going to or coming from?" the questions kept coming.

"We were to destroy a Waterling processing plant and kill a few waterlings," the otter stammered out. "You know, the young and the ones that couldn't fight."

The seal looked back at Dee. "Well, we know they want the war to continue, but why, do you know Herni?"

The otter shook his head. "I don't know. A wolf with a scar on his face gave the orders."

"A wolf? That explains the insignia. Who was it?" the seal demanded.

"I don't know," the youth stuttered, becoming more flustered with the questioning.

"Where'd you come from? Where'd the sub come from?" came another question.

"I dont' know," came the same exact answer.

The seal looked up to the ceiling and turned his back to the tied up youth. "You know what we do with pirates like you that don't tell the truth do you? We kill them, right Dee? Maybe we should take our prisoner here and kill'em or better yet show'em. Bring that other teen pirate, maybe we can persuade him to tell us what is going on."

*********************

"Come on Eric," a voice said, shaking his shoulder roughly. "We going to miss breakfast and you know how us otters are, we become cranky when we miss a meal."

Eric looked back again and saw the image of his brother fade and show the face of Davd, the younger cousin of Pailor shaking the bed with all of his might. "Fine if you dont want to eat, that's up to you, but I'm going to eat myself your portion if you dont get up."

He inched towards the door and it opened on his own accord as the sensors picked up the presence of the otter's lithe body. "My name's not Jack by the way, it's Davd. Whoever this Jack is, must be pretty big on your mind."

"Heh..If it's a sniper rifle...we need to contact Miles...Our water-hating jackal who came down as well." He chuckled slightly.

Castel growled and took the only knief he had. he stood himself up on the bottom, his ears poping from pressure but he didn't let that get to him. He then caught that Telminee was struggling. He thought of somthing... He used his foot and leg strenght to take off and ram into the oppsing creature and possibly a quick spin slash wit hthe kneif and swam right for Telminee's poisistion.

Telminee was struggling in dead, she gave small growls and tried to break free, but to no avail. He vivsion was bluring, but only to see a slight image ofA wolf trying to go for her. She managed wwith the last of her energy she twsited the knief in her paw and tried to Jab the arm holding it...She knew it would fail, but there could be a chance to be free.

[Sorry, can't quite remember where we left Bain... so I'll just guess he's floating outside]

"Yes, sir." Dee grinned, then dove into the water and swam up to ocean level to Bain's floating body. "BAIN!" Dee shouted, giving him a punch to the leg.

"Mm.. what?"

"Come on, we need you to play the part of a pirate we captured. ...He said you'd know what to do."

"Yeah yeah... where are my clothes?" Bain asked, looking over his nakedness.

Dee smirked, "You don't need 'em. Now come on!"

Dee grabbed Bain by the foot and dragged him back underwater and into the cave, tossing him onto the cave floor.

"I got the other pirate scum..." Dee gave Bain a push forward.

Eric shook his head to clear his mind, groaning slightly.
Talking in my sleep again...
"Wait a sec.." He said to the otter before he jumped out of his bunk and stretched slightly.

He stiffled a yawn as he walked towards the door.
"Let's go.." He said.

A whirlwind of skill, Carl seemed to glide through the water without any opposition whatsoever. Neyla and Hrunting had the most difficult time trying to keep up with the dolphin, as they followed several seconds behind, with their stun knives ready. They watched him dart from side to side, dipping frighteningly fast to the pool’s bottom only to ascend again in a heartbeat, his tail crashing an inch above the water level--and splashing. They already had a good idea of how adept the officer was, but they never imagined that he would be nothing short of brilliance.

The first dozen of computer-controlled aquatic divers threw themselves at Carl, hoping to overwhelm him with their numbers.

And as if by magic, he paused amid his powerful arm strokes, halting in the water and giving himself enough time to perform an effortless back flip. In passing, the first AI swam past him in a fury. Before the dolphin completed the flip, he had taken to unsheathe his stun knife from its scabbard tied to his thigh, and returning to an upright position, he sliced the chest of the next attacker. The beaver gripped his chest, his body flailing. Then, the third and fourth divers made their attempt to restrain the officer.

They held both of his arms. A little startled by this move, it was not enough to discourage the dolphin. With another flip, he managed to rip from their grasp, stabbing each in the leg in retaliation, and then going off toward the last diver of the first assault.

Neyla and Hrunting finally made their way to clean up the mess after him. The easiest kill of the day for them proved to be the initial diver Carl ignored; they stabbed the AI in the back, taking it by complete surprise.

Surprised by Carl’s fluidity, they exchanged looks of awe before going about securing the fallen divers. Those that were on the verge of recovery were stunned by one or the other a second time, buying them enough time to disrobe two quickly as their hands could manage. While ahead of them, they would keep watch of Carl’s doings.

Like the others, his actions seemingly impatient, the dolphin slammed into the fifth diver, sending his stun knife into the otter’s sternum, and then using his feet to kick him away. The otter had already begun to float like the others. Carl swam past, feeling very eager to demonstrate the finer points of takedowns to the lackeys behind him.

Neyla and Hrunting finished their task of removing the diving gear of the third and fourth divers, and were coming up to the fifth when he—it—came to consciousness; and almost immediately, it attacked the closest to it—stunning Hrunting. The young otter yipped in pain, taking in a gulp of water too.

For a moment, he choked and held his throat.

Neyla used her foot to kick the hand of the AI which held the stun knife, disarming it. A little furious, she pressed her knife along the side of its throat and sliced there, shocking it for however long she kept the blade there. Satisfied of getting revenge, she retracted her knife, kicked the diver away, and then turned to Hrunting.

She pulled him to the surface, splashing with him. There was a look of concern on her face, something Hrunting read and appreciated in between chokes. She slid up his rebreather for him, and then pulled herself up as well.

He coughed up bits of water, taking in new breaths of air. “Thanks, Neyla. I actually—swallowed--a little water down… there.”

She gave a smile, “Don’t next time,” she said, slapping his back a few times to reassure herself that he was okay. “I know it’s hard to prevent yelling when you’re getting shocked, but I guess everyone does it at some point or other.”

“Right,” he said, gathering his composure. “Now let’s get back down there before Carl takes all the credit.”

They pulled on their rebreathers anew.

Together, they slipped back into the water and swam in the direction of where they saw Carl last. Suddenly, the scenario had changed and the dolphin was in trouble with the last wave of divers. Not only that, the last diver they had trouble with unexpectedly came in front of them, separating them to their disadvantage. It appeared things were going to get more complicated than they needed to be.

Hrunting gestured for Neyla to go aid Carl, whose dynamic efforts had finally turned on him. The officer was being held from behind in an inescapable nelson by one of the AIs, trapped by two on either side of him, and menaced by the one in front with a stun blade drawing ever closer to his face.

The jaguar swam past the interloping diver without so much as drawing his attention. It wanted the young otter to himself. And after seeing that his partner had successfully slipped past the AI, he readied his knife and beckoned the computer to come.

Come get some, he snarled and bubbled the water, lunging for the diver.

My gawd, people remember this thread. I've been through hell and back and planning a return visit. :P

My grandmother died in May and well, let's say, things have been hectic. I'm sorry I haven't been around. Yes, this was exciting RPG. I'll read what we have here and see if I can't salvage something.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother dying; that is most unfortunate. If things are still hectic as they were, please do take as much time as necessary, because this RPG isn't going anywhere and I'll still be around to participate in it. :)

I'm sure we can squeeze you in somewhere. Yes, as I stated above, it has been a bit hectic. Three sides actually, Waterlings, Aquas, and mercenary. Just submit a character or do a background story. These are young divers/furs in the middle of a civil war of Aquas.
