They say that everything is different, that before it was beautiful, that it was green. I say that now, it is beautiful, for I have known nothing else. I know the history, but not as my mother or father know it. It is still Earth, but before, we were different, and there were more of us. Then, one day, the world ended. They say it was because of one crazy man, but I cannot see how one man can kill so many. We only know of a few that survived, but they say there are more. That is wishful thinking, I think. When I was born, they were happy. There had been others before me that were born in these subterranean vaults, but they thought that I may have been a mutant, changed by what had killed their kin. They say I am not different, but they do not know me.

I only know what I have seen. I know that it is beautiful out there; I know that it is not inside. When we were finally allowed to leave, it was a joyous day. When the gates were lifted, no one knew what to expect, whether it would be the same as before, or if it would just be like inside; barren and dead. It was beautiful, though. I saw trees for the first time, with wonderfully twisted branches and large, orange leaves. I saw other animals, not like us or the ones we had made to feed us. There were strange, overgrown “rabbits,” amazing animals that took to the skies, and others, somewhat like us, but different. We didn’t know how, or why, but we knew that they were different.

Soon after, we started to explore more. We went to a place called “Los Angeles,” and I saw what must have been the cause of the loss of most human life 30 years ago. Standing straight up were these great husks, which must have contained some sort of army which had landed here to wipe us out. Within these husks were some strange forms, which many called “spaceships,” which must have come after life was destroyed. We did not see any forms of life until the third day we were there, when we spotted something that looked human, but was not. The next day, we saw more of them, all grouped together around some small buildings. They said that they looked like mixes of animal and humans, so they started calling them “manimals.” I call them furries, as that is what they are, furry. After a week, we went back to the shelter, but I did not want to leave this strange place. I will try to get back there as soon as I can. I am sure some of my friends will join me.

[This is a post-apocalyptic RP set on Earth. Furries have landed on the former inhabited regions closer to the equator, and there are some humans who have managed to survive. There are also those who didn’t get into the shelters, but did survive, and are now mutants. You may be a furry, a human, or a mutant.]
